When I graduated from Physiotherapy school long, long time ago, I could not believe how many clients in my caseload who sustained injuries, like Achilles pain, knee pain and back pain from running.

Despite changes in therapy techniques runners would continually get injured.  I started to think, if clients can get low back pain from improper lifting technique, then runners must get injured from improper running form.  I quickly realize I did not know much about the running technique.   Through internet searches, I found Dr. Nicholas Romanov.

He developed the Pose Method® of running.  Pose Method® of running looks at running as a technical skill of movement which teaches you how to run more efficiently (i.e. faster with less energy expended) and minimize impact to your body.   I bought Dr. Nicholas Romanov book and I thought I could learn the technique from reading it.  I was wrong.  I decided to go visit Dr. Romanov in Boston and learn how to run from him.

He taught me how to run in the bitter cold.  Since then, I have slowly improved my running and now I can say I am no longer a heel striker.   I have been practicing and teaching Pose Method® of running for since 2004.

Pose Method® of running can help runners with the following:

  • Learn how to change from heel striking to forefoot/ midfoot striking
  • Increase your speed
  • Increase your cadence
  • Reduce energy expended
  • Reduce chance of injury
  • Reduce impact to the body
  • Make hill running easier

Since running is a fundamental skill in almost all sports, Pose Method® of running can help athletes of all types:

  • Runners: recreational runner, marathon runner, and sprinter
  • Soccer
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Raquet Sports: tennis, squash
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Rugby

At Competitive Edge Physiotherapy, we offer private and group training sessions and seminars on Pose Method® of running.
